Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this Gien Faience Centrepiece Dish to the 19th Century.
This piece is profusely hand painted in a classical style with foliate boarders, classical scrolls, gods, cherubs, urns, beasts and an intricate coat of arms in a restrictive palette of white, blue and burnt yellow. This beautiful piece is fully decorated on both the inside and the outside. There are two lifting handles, one on each side which are naturally ribbed and terminate on each side of the dish with a pair of moulded clam shells. It is in very good condition with no restoration.
