Rams Head Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The panels have a beautiful white crackle glaze enamel and have been adorned with graceful cranes in black, gold and iron red. Each panel has an oval gilded opening for photographs to be displayed; the apertures currently display two Japanese Geisha prints which suit it very well. The reverse of the screen has little panels to access the photo openings.

This quality screen is in absolutely excellent museum condition, quite unbelievably so for the age of the piece. All in all a very nice and stylish example of the Japanese Meiji period and the skilled craftsmanship associated with it.
This measures 54 cms by 34 cms when opened out completely, each panel being 34 cms by 27 cms.
