Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Victorian centre tables are characterized by solid timber construction, heavy pedestal bases, and often elaborate decorative tops featuring marble, marquetry, or scagliola work designed to sit proudly in the middle of a grand room.

These tables typically utilized dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or rosewood for the structural pedestal and base, frequently paired with imported multi-coloured marbles or inlaid stones for the tabletops.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate joinery, heavy timber shrinkage, hand-carved details on the pedestal, and the presence of natural fissures and hand-polishing within the stone specimen top.

Position the piece as a focal point in an entryway or living space, balancing the ornate stone surface with minimalist modern accessories to create a sophisticated contrast between old and new.

Maintain the timber using breathable beeswax to nourish the grain, and clean the marble top exclusively with a soft, damp cloth, avoiding acidic substances that can etch the polished stone surface.
