Italian Baroque Panel Featuring the Head of a Cherub Putto.

This exquisite Italian Baroque carved and painted wooden panel and door features the head of a cherub, or putto, set amidst foliage and feather motifs in relief, encased within a beautifully adorned frame. The panel's striking decoration is a quintessential example of Italian naive faux marble, intentionally painted in vibrant, intense colors to simulate the appearance of a non-existent, extraordinary marble. The artwork underwent restoration, likely in the 1980s, by Nicola Restauri Studio, renowned for its expertise in conservative restoration for museums, galleries, and cultural and artistic heritage institutions. Since the restoration some small repairs can be considered for the face of the cherub (see images).
