Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 1900s.

A superbly stylish antique example with a wonderful timeworn patination to the surface, very well made and a generous weight, suggesting an internal steel frame.
Examples of such classical sculpture and architectural elements were collected on the 18th and 19th century Grand Tour of Italy etc.., Rome, Florence, Venice and kept as trophies and collections in the great country houses, whilst copies were also made by museums and study aids, with many examples seen the Sir John Soane collection.

Whilst we cannot identify the inventory number, we are confident it dates circa 1900 and probably a museum copy or a collection.
These are increasingly rare and harder to find, featuring a splendid colour and great scale.

Mostly in excellent condition, the odd chip which is usual, please note the big toe has had a repair.
Fitted with its original wall hanging fixing point.
