English 19th Century Antique Witch Ball Ref 12

This English antique large silver blue witch ball with chain is part of a large, rare, lifetime’s collection of thirty six witch balls of varying sizes and colours. In superb condition.

It is said they were hung in cottage windows in 17th and 18th century England to ward away evil spirits, witches and bad fortune. It was believed that the witches would see their reflection in these balls and be scared away and thus keeping the home safe.
