Description

This is a great piece of antique Welsh handiwork. This spoon has been hand made, with an oval handle with a glazed window. Inside written is " A present from Dyffryn. To Mrs Foster and a Merry Christmas 1892'. There are illustrations of various flowers and leaves, maybe inspired by the Dyffryn botanical gardens. Around the edge is decoration and a hanging hook.

Many of the large homes in Wales during the late 19th century were built on money made from the industrial revolution. Dyffryn was one of these homes and was built to the grand scale you can see today on wealth made from the coal industry.

Dyffryn Gardens is a collection of botanical gardens near the village of Drffryn.
