Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency card tables date from the early nineteenth century and were designed for social card games. They typically feature a foldover top that rests against a wall as a console table when closed and rotates or opens via a gate-leg mechanism to reveal a playing surface.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid mahogany and rich mahogany veneers. Decorative elements frequently incorporated boxwood or ebony stringing inlays, brass hinges, and woven wool baize lining on the inner playing surface.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails and mortise-and-tenon construction. Look for natural timber shrinkage on the top, original brass card-table hinges, and hand-planed finishing marks on the underside.

When closed, the table functions effectively as a hallway console, foyer focal point, or behind-sofa table. Positioning a decorative mirror or lamp above the tabletop integrates the historic piece into modern living spaces.

Apply a clear natural beeswax paste periodically along the grain to preserve the timber finish. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent veneer warping or movement in the solid wood.
