This pair of 19th-century Italian Rococo Revival bedside tables is constructed from walnut with marble tops, brass sabots, and marquetry inlay. The timber displays warm brown tones with rich grain patterns across the shaped shelves and single drawers. Each piece stands on slender cabriole legs terminating in small brass feet, topped with contoured, patterned pinkish-brown marble surfaces and fitted with a single central drawer pull. The lower open shelves exhibit circular geometric inlay decoration, while the serpentine aprons and curved silhouettes define the classic French Chateau style. Measuring 72 cm high, 57 cm wide, and 34 cm deep, these compact tables function practically as bedside companions in a bedroom. They provide a surface for lamps or nighttime essentials alongside lower storage space for books and decorative items. The cleaned and polished finish highlights the wood grain and marquetry details, allowing them to integrate into traditional bedroom schemes.

FAQs

Italian Rococo style bedside tables typically feature serpentine fronts, cabriole legs, intricate wood marquetry, and polished marble tops, reflecting eighteenth-century French design influence adapted by Italian craftspeople.

These pieces were crafted using fine wood veneers such as walnut or rosewood over solid timber frames, topped with contoured marble slabs, and finished with cast brass mounts or sabots.

Authentic pieces feature genuine inset wood veneer marquetry rather than surface prints, hand-fitted drawer joinery, natural veining across the stone marble top, and solid brass hardware.

Position them symmetrically on either side of a bed frame, paired with contemporary table lamps or neutral ceramic decor to create a balanced contrast between traditional detail and modern minimalism.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and keep out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, while cleaning marble tops using pH-neutral stone cleaners to guard against acid etching.
