We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

The Napoleon III style, popular during the Second French Empire, draws heavy inspiration from historical revivals, particularly Louis XIV, Louis XVI, and Renaissance designs, often executed in dark ebonised finishes.

These tables were typically constructed from foundational hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or beech, which were then stained, painted, and polished to imitate expensive ebony wood.

Authentic period pieces exhibit traditional hand-cut joinery, appropriate timber shrinkage, genuine oxidisation of the surface finish, and period-correct metal hardware or escutcheons.

An ebonised console table acts as a strong architectural anchor in a modern hallway or living room, and can be balanced with metallic accessories, neutral walls, or contemporary abstract art.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally applying high-quality microcrystalline wax, avoiding silicone-based sprays and excessive moisture.
