Art Deco is a design movement from the 1920s and 1930s characterised by sleek geometric shapes, stylised animal and human forms, and modern industrial materials.

Spelter, an alloy primarily composed of zinc, was widely used in the 19th and early 20th centuries as a cost-effective alternative to bronze, often given a bronze-plated or painted finish.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-accurate casting techniques, natural patination, stylized geometric forms, and materials consistent with European manufacturing from the interwar period.

Vintage bookends can be placed on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or office desk to anchor rows of books while adding sculptural height and historical character to the space.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or excessive moisture, which can damage the patinated metal surface and porous stone base.
