The William IV period (18301837) serves as a bridge between late Regency elegance and early Victorian substantiality. Furniture from this era is characterised by bold classical proportions, rich dark timbers such as rosewood and mahogany, and prominent architectural carvings including scrolls, gadrooning, and carved claw feet.

These tables feature a swivelling, foldover top that turns ninety degrees to reveal an interior storage compartment before opening flat to form a larger playing surface.
