Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Rococo Revival serving dish in porcelain has a white and gold ground with enamel painted flowers and butterflies. The oval piece displays a scalloped rim with a fluted texture and a heavy gilded border enclosing a hand-painted central floral spray, smaller blossoms, and two delicate butterflies on either side. Visible signs of age include slight wear to the gilt finish along the raised edges of the moulding, while the base remains unmarked in the visible view except for the signed maker mark KPM. Measuring 5.5 cm high by 33 cm wide and 24 cm deep, the dish fits practically into domestic displays as a charming decorative accent. In a contemporary home, this antique porcelain serving dish suits placement on a sideboard top within an English Country House interior scheme. The white glazed surface contrasts against the rich gold leaf and polychrome enamel colours of the hand-painted pink, orange, and purple floral motifs. Collectors of nineteenth-century European ceramics will find it a functional addition for tabletop presentation or cabinet display. The organic shape and detailed floral painting offer a traditional aesthetic that integrates smoothly with classic tableware collections and period furniture settings.

FAQs

A KPM fluted dish is produced by the Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin, featuring characteristically moulded or ribbed scalloped borders, hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration, and rich gilding.

These dishes are crafted from hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded with fluted edges, and finished with overglaze hand-painted botanical enamels and burnished gold leaf gilding.

Authentic pieces generally feature the cobalt blue sceptre mark underglaze, often alongside an orb mark for decorated wares, impressed mould numbers, and high-grade hand painting.

A decorative fluted dish can be positioned on a sideboard top, placed within a glass cabinet on an easel stand, or used as a table centerpiece to contrast contemporary surfaces.

Clean gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive cloths, dishwashers, or chemical solvents that could strip the delicate overglaze gilding.
