In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Console tables from 19th-century France were typically designed to stand against a wall in grand hallways, salons, or dining rooms, often reflecting the neoclassical and Empire styles favoured during the period.

Authentic pieces generally feature dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut veneers over secondary timbers, topped with heavy slabs of natural marble and joined using traditional mortise and tenon techniques.

Verification involves examining the timber grain, hand-cut dovetail joints within drawers, natural patination on the wood, and the weight and veining of the original marble top.

Placing it in an entrance hall or living room creates a striking focal point, allowing it to be paired with a minimalist mirror, ceramic vases, or architectural lamps to balance old and new elements.

Wood surfaces should be maintained with traditional beeswax to preserve the finish, while marble requires gentle cleaning with a pH-neutral soap and protection from acidic spills to prevent staining.
