Regency Mahogany Ebony Banded Chamber/writing Table; Attributed to Gillows

Description

Fine Regency mahogany ebony banded chamber/writing table; attributed to Gillows of very elegant proportions; the well figured solid mahogany top with rounded corners and a reeded edge having the renowned Gillow hinged flap at the rear, revealing the ink and pen tray compartment. The frieze drawer being mahogany lined with an ebony banded edge, retaining original brass knob handles, lock and working key. The figured mahogany frieze with rounded corners and ebony banded panels to the sides and the reverse, making it free standing. Raised on slender turned reeded legs with original brass cup castors. Excellent colour and patination.
