We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sitzendorf porcelain refers to hard-paste porcelain items produced in Thuringia, Germany, following the establishment of the manufactory in the mid-nineteenth century. The factory became famous for producing finely modelled pastoral, mythological, and allegorical figures decorated with hand-painted enamel and applied floral detailing.

These figures were cast using fine kaolin clay porcelain paste before undergoing a primary firing. Skilled artisans then hand-painted the details using metallic oxide enamels, added delicate hand-modelled ceramic flora, and finished the pieces with liquid gold gilding prior to final low-temperature glost firings.

Authentic Sitzendorf porcelain typically features underglaze blue factory marks stamped or painted on the underside, such as the crossed line or crown motifs used from the late nineteenth century onwards. Additionally, genuine pieces demonstrate fine moulding quality, detailed facial features, and distinctively realistic applied ceramic lacework or vegetation.

Porcelain figures can be integrated into modern settings by placing them inside glass display cabinets, arranging them symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, or grouping them alongside minimal modern ceramics on open shelving to create visual contrast.

Dust should be removed regularly using a soft, dry camel-hair paintbrush to avoid damaging delicate applied flowers. If deeper cleaning is required, gently wipe the surface using a lint-free cloth dampened with lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding submersion or harsh chemical cleaners that could affect gilding.
