Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Swedish painted furniture from this era reflects a minimalist, functional aesthetic derived from earlier Gustavian and regional folk traditions. Light-coloured painted finishes, straight lines, and understated wooden construction were designed to maximize interior light during long Nordic winters.

These tables were typically crafted from native softwoods such as pine or spruce, joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon construction. The surfaces were rendered with milk paint or oil-based pigments applied in multiple contrasting coats.

Authentic pieces exhibit uneven paint wear in areas of high use, such as table edges, footrests, and corners, revealing underlying wood grain or historic base coats. Genuine age results in natural crazing, micro-cracking, and soft chalkiness rather than artificial distressing.

Position the table as a side accent beside upholstered seating, in a foyer, or as a bedside stand. The contrast between pale, weathered paintwork and modern minimalist elements adds texture and historical balance to a space.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding liquid cleaners or abrasive chemical sprays that strip historic paint layers. Maintain a stable indoor humidity level to prevent the pine frame from warping or cracking.
