We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts needlework emphasizes hand craftsmanship, natural motifs, and honest materials in reaction to industrial mass production. Popularized during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these pieces frequently feature pastoral scenes, stylized flora, and traditional stitching techniques executed on natural linen or canvas.

Early twentieth-century needlework pictures typically utilised crewel wool, silk threads, or cotton stranded embroidery floss worked onto flax linen, cotton canvas, or burlap bases. Frames were commonly crafted from solid timbers such as oak or stained pine, often highlighting joinery details.

Authentic period pieces display hand-stitched irregularities on the reverse, hand-carved or joined wooden framessuch as Oxford frames with crossed cornersand natural thread fading. Original backing materials often include aged paper, timber boards, or hand-forged tacks.

Position framed textiles on accent walls, above sideboards, or integrated into gallery walls alongside oil paintings and sketches. The tactile quality of embroidered wool provides textural warmth and pairs well with both modern minimalist furniture and traditional timber pieces.

Mount needlework behind UV-protective glass with a mat board separator to prevent direct contact between glass and thread. Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight and high humidity, and clean the exterior frame using a soft, dry lint-free cloth without liquid chemicals.
