An Early 20thc Copper Weather Vane

1900 - 1920
Description

An early 20thC or possibly Victorian, copper weather vane. The figures of a dog chased by a child and booted gentleman wearing a top hat are extremely well depicted having both movement,expression and detail. There is a strengthening copper repair to the base of the gentlemans leg. Traces of old paint and copper verdigris. The whole is fixed to a folded copper mount itself on a counter-weighted base. That in turn is on an iron and heavy tile based axis allowing the vane to rotate. This piece is delightful and would be well suited to the garden or equally inside on a hall table.

59 cm high maximum....the childs head is 50 cm from the base.

47 cm wide and the copper about 3mm thick.

Figures base 18.5cm by 5,5 cm and the heavy tile base is 22.5 cm by 23 and 3 cm thick,
