Early C19th George IV period rosewood library table attributed to Gillows of Lancaster.
Elegant free-standing library table of ‘d-ended’ design, fitted with 4 drawers . The figured rosewood top above a frieze with ‘cock-beaded’ panel reserves with a carved moulding to the lower edge..
Raised on a cheval-type base with flat standard-end supports with corresponding beaded panel detail and scroll-carved quadrant blocks . The shaped legs fitted with original foliate-cast brass cap castors ,the base joined by a turned stretcher.
The opposing sides of double drawers having ‘cock-beaded’ edges , all fitted with their original turned knob-pulls , the drawers all having original brass locks and mahogany linings (keys lacking) . One drawer fitted with an original partition probably for pens or ink bottles.
A high quality library of practical scale and proportions in excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina.
