Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique billiard scoreboard is a wall-mounted wooden device used during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to track scores during games of billiards, life pool, or snooker. Featuring sliding pointers along tracks marked with gilded numbers, these boards were standard fixtures in pub games rooms, private clubs, and billiard rooms.

Victorian and Edwardian scoreboards were typically crafted from hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, walnut, or stained beech. The sliding pointers were turned on a lathe, while the scoring numbers were either inlaid with bone or mother-of-pearl, or stencilled using metallic gold paint.

Authentic examples feature natural signs of wear along the runner tracks from repeated sliding, period brass mounting hardware, and hand-turned wooden markers. Look for period-appropriate joinery and gold stencilling that exhibits age-related patination rather than modern uniform printing.

Mount the scoreboard on a narrow wall space, above a sideboard, or within a home bar area to introduce texture and historical context. Its linear form makes it an effective accent piece when positioned above traditional cabinetry or integrated into a gallery wall.

Keep the wood preserved by wiping it with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a coat of beeswax polish occasionally, avoiding painted lettering. Refrain from using chemical cleaners or abrasive solvents that could remove original gilded stencilling or alter the patinated surface finish.
