Description

Very elegant Regency revival mirror back console table with a hand painted faux marble top and concave plinth base with turned columns, circa 1900.

Wonderful simplicity to this console table, finely turned and tapered columns complemented by the grain patterns of the concave plinth with the foxed mirror glass too.

The hand painted faux marble top is well textured and suits well…a later addition as most likely would have had a marble top.

Good condition and well polished.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. Secure Transit

FAQs

Regency revival furniture typically imitates the classical proportions, architectural motifs, and refined elegance of the early 19th-century British Regency era, often produced during the Victorian or Edwardian periods.

These tables are traditionally constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut, frequently featuring mirrored glass backs and brass or gilt accents.

Authentication involves examining construction techniques, timber shrinkage, screw types, and mirror backing oxidation, as revival pieces generally exhibit later manufacturing markers despite adopting older styles.

Such pieces function well as focal points in entryways or living spaces, paired with minimalist contemporary lamps or abstract art to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to protect the wood finish and timber color, and dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
