Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco design emerged in France during the 1910s and flourished internationally throughout the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric lines, industrial materials, and a celebration of modernity and machinery.

Authentic pieces from this era frequently utilised newly accessible industrial metals such as chrome-plated brass, steel, and nickel, often combined with glass, mirrored surfaces, or synthetic resins like Bakelite, constructed with clean mechanical joins and heavy cast bases.

Genuine period items typically feature period manufacturing marks, appropriate weight from solid metal construction, expected signs of age such as minor surface oxidisation or micro-scratches on the plating, and distinct architectural styling rather than lightweight modern replicas.

This piece can be styled effectively on a dark wood mantelpiece, a minimalist home office desk, or a mirrored surface to reflect light, pairing well with monochrome photography or geometric textiles to complement its industrial heritage.

Preserve the finish by dusting gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that can strip the delicate metal plating, and keeping the item away from excessive moisture.
