Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popular during the 1920s and 1930s, travelling photograph frames were designed as compact, durable cases to protect portraits while journeying. They featured mechanical closures, such as folding doors or sliding panels, executing the clean geometric aesthetic characteristic of the Art Deco movement.

These frames were typically crafted from solid sterling silver, silver plate, brass, or nickel. High-end examples incorporated detailed engine-turned patterns, guilloche enamelling, or leather casings to safeguard the glass and central photograph.

Authentic silver items feature official assay marks or purity stamps, such as 925 or hallmarks indicating the maker and year of production. Geometric reeding, precision engine-turning, and solid mechanical hinges or sliding tracks are hallmark indicators of early 20th-century craftsmanship.

Place compact travelling frames on an office desk, bedside table, or layered within a curated bookshelf display. Combining polished metal accents with contemporary wooden or stone surfaces creates a balanced contrast in modern spaces.

Gently clean the surface with a soft, non-abrasive silver cloth to remove tarnishing, taking care not to let liquid polishes enter the mechanical tracks or contact the internal photo slot. Store in a dry environment to minimise oxidisation.
