FAQs

Victorian tables span the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901), encompassing a revival of various historic styles alongside intricate craftsmanship, decorative marquetry, and rich timber selections such as walnut and mahogany.

These tables were typically constructed from solid hardwoods like oak or pine, veneered with burr walnut or other exotic timbers, and embellished with multi-wood marquetry and parquetry inlay, supported by turned pedestals and tripod bases.

Authenticity is identified through period-correct joinery methods, natural timber ageing, hand-cut dovetails or fixings, and traditional patination on the wood surface rather than modern chemical finishes.

An antique table serves as a focal point in a contemporary living space when contrasted with minimalist upholstery, modern lighting, or used as a standalone display piece to add textural depth.

Protect the veneered and inlaid surfaces by keeping the table away from direct sunlight and central heating sources, and maintain the finish using quality natural beeswax applied sparingly.
