This antique chamber pot from the Victorian period presents a classical rounded earthenware body with a flared rim and a single loop handle at the side. The ceramic glaze features a peach and cream gradient colour scheme, complemented by printed floral garlands, rose motifs, and a scrollwork cartouche around the exterior, alongside gilt decoration to the top rim and visible crazing on the interior surface. It measures 14 cm high, 17 cm wide, and 14 cm deep. Today, this piece functions well on a bathroom counter or display shelf within an English Country House interior setting, holding dried botanicals or small everyday items.

A chamber pot was a portable vessel stored in bedrooms or commodes for overnight sanitation before the introduction of indoor plumbing. They were standard household items from antiquity through the early twentieth century.

Chamber pots were predominantly produced from glazed earthenware, stoneware, or porcelain, though enamelware, pewter, and silver examples were also manufactured depending on socioeconomic status.

Authentic pieces usually exhibit characteristic maker marks stamped or impressed on the underside, surface crazing within the lead or feldspathic glaze, and evidence of transfer printing or hand-painted decorative rim motifs.

Contemporary decorators frequently repurpose ceramic chamber pots as decorative indoor planters for trailing house plants, cachepots, or unique countertop vessels for bathroom storage.

Wash gently by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive sponges or harsh chemical cleaners that can degrade delicate glaze, enamel colours, or gilded highlights.
