FAQs

First Period Worcester refers to porcelain produced at the Worcester manufactory from its establishment in 1751 until roughly 1783, known for exceptional paste quality and hand-painted decoration.

Early Worcester pieces typically utilised a soft-paste porcelain formula incorporating soapstone, which provided thermal shock resistance and a distinctive creamy translucency under glaze.

Authenticity is assessed through examination of underglaze blue square fret marks, crescent marks, unglazed foot rims, hand-painted brushwork details, and the characteristic pitted texture of soft-paste glaze.

These decorative objects can be displayed securely on specialised plate hangers as wall art or placed flat on surface units using stable brass stands to add historical texture and colour to contemporary rooms.

Antique porcelain must be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild, non-abrasive detergent, and should never be placed in a dishwasher or subjected to extreme temperature fluctuations.
