This French Provincial console table dates to 1880 and takes the form of a rustic farmhouse trestle table. The piece uses pale sycamore and elm timbers in a light brown colour, presenting an unfinished surface with a thick top, splayed wooden legs, and exposed mortise and tenon joints visible on the upper surface. The timber displays natural grain patterns and knots across the top board, alongside subtle weathering and indentations that reflect its nineteenth-century origins. Measuring 80 cm high, 141 cm wide, and 64 cm deep, the table stands on four angled legs that taper toward the floor. In a modern home, this practical surface suits placement in a hallway, kitchen, or living space as a console or serving table.

Traditional French rustic trestle furniture originated in provincial regions, constructed by local craftsmen for utilitarian tasks such as dining, food preparation, and workbench activities.

Local hardwoods such as elm, sycamore, oak, and beech were predominantly used due to their abundance, density, and long-term durability.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-hewn surfaces, visible mortise and tenon joinery, splayed legs secured with pegs, and surface wear consistent with functional age.

These pieces function effectively as hallway console tables, sofa back tables, or kitchen preparation surfaces to introduce organic timber textures into modern spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry lint-free cloth and apply clear beeswax annually, avoiding direct heat sources or high humidity to prevent timber shrinkage.
