FAQs

Stick stands became prominent in British and European entrance halls during the Victorian era as formal entryways evolved to accommodate walking canes, parasols, and umbrellas.

Traditional umbrella stands were commonly constructed from cast brass, iron, or copper frames paired with integrated metal or ceramic drip trays to catch moisture.

Authentic period pieces typically feature heavy cast components, traditional joinery or threaded fixings, natural patination, and substantial weight compared to modern reproductions.

Placing a polished or aged metal stick stand in an entryway introduces functional structure and reflective metallic texture that contrasts well with contemporary minimal decor.

Vintage brass should be cleaned gently using a soft, dry cloth to preserve the natural oxidisation and patina, avoiding harsh chemical abrasives that strip historical surfaces.
