This nineteenth-century Gothic Revival occasional table comes in a warm brown oak with a brass finish. The piece has a hexagonal top featuring an ogee moulded edge, above a pierced gothic arch frieze decorated with acorn drop finials at the corners. A central hexagonal column rests on a triform base with three arched supports, set upon a triangular platform with shaped sides and raised on gilt brass bun feet. The table stands 76.2 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 47 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this piece works effectively as an occasional table beside a sofa or chair in a living room, study, or hallway. The compact footprint makes it practical for displaying a small lamp, a vase, or decorative items while adding architectural character to the interior space.

Gothic Revival furniture, predominant during the 19th century, draws inspiration from medieval ecclesiastical architecture, incorporating decorative elements such as pointed arches, trefoils, drop finials, and pierced tracery.

Pieces from this period were primarily crafted from solid native hardwoods like oak and walnut, utilizing traditional cabinetmaking techniques such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery and decorative wood carving.

Authentic period examples demonstrate hand-carved friezes, natural timber shrinkage over time, historical wear around the base, and original brass fittings or castors beneath the feet.

A Gothic Revival occasional table functions as an architectural focal point when positioned alongside contemporary minimalist seating, neutral upholstery, or layered within a moody dark academia aesthetic.

Regularly dust intricate carvings with a soft, dry brush or cloth, apply a natural beeswax polish once or twice per year, and position the timber away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking.
