Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian Chippendale style card table comes in dark brown mahogany with brass hardware. The fold-over top sits above a single drawer featuring a keyhole and pull handle, mounted with cabriole legs that display acanthus leaf carving at the knees and terminate in ball and claw feet. A gadrooned apron runs along the lower edge. The timber shows a warm finish and visible patina, while the legs curve outward in characteristic antique proportions. The piece measures 73.5 cm high, 81.5 cm wide, and 39.5 cm deep. Positioned beside the front door in an English Country House interior, this table functions as a decorative console surface for keys and small items, or opens up for occasional use. The compact footprint fits neatly into hallways, entryways, and reception rooms, adding period character to traditional spaces.

FAQs

Chippendale furniture, originating in 18th-century England, is defined by ornate hand-carving, cabriole legs, and ball and claw feet, drawing design inspiration from Gothic, Rococo, and Chinese influences.

Georgian card tables were predominantly crafted from dense mahogany timber, featuring brass hardware, hand-cut dovetail joints, and often a green baize or felt playing surface inside.

Authentic pieces feature detailed carving on the knees, such as acanthus leaves, along with crisp ball and claw feet, hand-planed secondary timbers, and period-accurate brass swan-neck handles.

A fold-over card table works effectively as a console table in a foyer or drawing room, serving as a display platform for table lamps, ceramics, or framed art when kept in its folded position.

Mahogany surfaces should be dusted regularly with a soft cloth and wax-polished annually with high-grade beeswax to protect the original patination and keep timber stable.
