A cellarette, or wine cooler, is an 18th-century piece of furniture designed to hold ice and keep wine bottles chilled near the dining table prior to modern refrigeration.

Georgian wine coolers were typically constructed from solid mahogany or walnut, reinforced with brass banding, and lined internally with lead or zinc to retain ice water.

Authentic late 18th-century pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass carry handles, square tapered or splayed legs, and natural oxidisation on the underside and brasswork.

An octagonal cellarette functions as an accent side table in a living room, a hallway focal point, or a distinctive storage unit in a dining alcove.

Keep the wood nourished with beeswax polish applied along the grain, avoid placement near direct heat sources, and ensure internal linings remain free of standing moisture.
