This Art Deco sewing set by Nogent originates from 1930 and is retailed by Harrods. The collection comprises seven metal sewing implements housed in an original presentation case covered in teal-coloured material. The interior features a cream silk lining with the vintage Harrods London mark printed on the lid and a teal velvet bed fitted with indents for each tool. The complete set includes dressmaking shears, small embroidery scissors, a cylindrical needle case, a metal thimble, a stitching awl, a bodkin, and another matching slender tool, all displaying faceted, geometric handles. The presentation case measures 2.5 cm high, 19.5 cm wide, and 12 cm deep. This portable sewing kit suits display on a dressing table, desk, or inside a display cabinet within a bedroom or living space. Collectors of vintage sewing implements or Art Deco accessories can place the presentation case open or closed on a shelf or tabletop to showcase the metal tools and branded silk lining.

Art Deco sewing kits, produced primarily during the 1920s and 1930s, combine functional needlework utility with streamlined geometric design. Typically housed in compact, fitted cases lined with silk or velvet, these sets feature tools adorned with octagonal handles and clean angular forms characteristic of the period.

These sets frequently utilised nickel-plated or stainless steel for scissors and bodkins, silver or brass for thimbles, and silk- or velvet-lined leather cases. High-end examples often incorporated bone, horn, or early plastics alongside fine leather exteriors.

Authentic pieces display crisp geometric silhouettes, maker stamps, or retailer markings on both the case interior lining and individual metal tools. Look for period-appropriate wear on the fitted velvet or silk lining and age-consistent oxidisation on steel components.

An open vintage sewing kit functions well as a decorative accent on a bookshelf, desk, or sideboard top. Displaying the item open highlights the contrast between the plush fabric lining and the polished steel implements, adding historical texture to modern vignette styling.

Keep the set in a climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight to prevent the lining fabric from fading and the leather from drying out. Clean metal tools using a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical polishes that could damage surrounding velvet or leather.
