This Victorian industrial console table combines a warm brown rectangular timber top with a black cast iron base. The wooden surface displays rounded corners and a gently moulded edge, alongside surface wear including numerous scratches, scuffs and areas of finish wear. The cast iron base incorporates decorative openwork lattice detailing, the original raised Singer nameplate, a foot treadle with a matching lattice design, a flywheel mechanism and a decorative side wheel with age-related wear to the painted finish. The table measures 73 cm high, 94 cm wide, and 44.5 cm deep. Positioned in an entrance hall beside the front door, the console table functions as a practical surface for everyday items or as a standalone decorative feature in an industrial loft interior. The iron framework supports the timber top while retaining the mechanical components of the original sewing machine. The aged patina on both the wood and metal surfaces contributes to the character of the piece, suiting hallway arrangements or living spaces where surface display is needed.

Treadle sewing machine tables originated in the nineteenth century, utilizing a foot pedal and flywheel mechanism to power mechanical sewing equipment prior to widespread electrification.

These tables feature cast iron legs, pedals, and stretchers, often decorated with lattice openwork and company branding, paired with solid timber tops.

Authentic Singer bases display cast iron branding integrated into the central crossbar, accompanying wheel mechanisms, and trade-marked iron foot pedals.

These converted tables function effectively as entry console tables, compact office desks, or accent displays along narrow corridors.

Clean the ironwork with a soft brush and apply clear microcrystalline wax to protect against oxidisation, while buffing the timber surface with natural furniture wax.
