This architectural model is a large Neoclassical wooden facade dating from the 1920s in the UK. Constructed from pine with an original cream-painted finish, it exhibits clear signs of wear with slight surface distress visible on the paintwork. The architectural composition incorporates a triangular pediment surmounting a wide frieze, two prominent classical columns flanking the structure, symmetrical rectangular window openings, and a detailed central doorway portal featuring turned columns and an arched upper opening. The carved and moulded details include linear recessed panels along the lower base, square frieze blocks, and dentil moulding beneath the roofline. Sized as a substantial decorative object, it measures approximately 94 cm wide by 115 cm high by 30 cm deep. Today, it functions as a striking decorative display piece suitable for placement upon a large sideboard top, or it can be arranged as a freestanding sculptural element or hung directly against a wall in a living space or study.

Architectural models were commissioned or acquired as souvenirs and educational studies during and following the tradition of the European Grand Tour, serving to showcase classical Roman and Greek architectural proportions.

Historic architectural models were commonly constructed using softwoods, plaster, marble, or alabaster, frequently finished with paint or varnish to simulate full-scale stonework.

Authentic models feature traditional joinery, evidence of natural timber oxidisation, historical layered paint finishes, and strict adherence to classical order proportions such as Doric, Ionic, or Corinthian styles.

These scale facades act as focal sculptural features when placed on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or styled within deep bookcase shelving alongside reference books.

Maintain the surface by dusting gently with a soft dry brush, avoiding liquid cleaners, direct sunlight, and areas of fluctuating humidity to prevent timber movement or paint flaking.
