Exhibit Antiques has dated this Victorian Silver Plated Corkscrew to the Victorian era.
A very fine Victorian corkscrew dating to c.1880.
It has a turned and polished wooden T-handle fitted with silver-plated end caps.

This is a classic late Victorian example, combining practicality with elegant design. Corkscrews of this form were commonly found in well-appointed households, hotels and gentlemen's clubs during the latter part of the 19th century. The contrasting combination of polished wood, silver-plated mounts and forged steel creates an attractive and highly functional piece of antique barware.

Date & Origin
England, c.1880, Period of Queen Victoria.
Condition
A fine example. The wooden handle is in very good condition with an attractive colour and patina developed through age and use. The silver-plated end caps display a few minor dings and marks consistent with age. The worm remains strong and serviceable.
Dimensions
Length: 13 cm
Additional Notes
The worm is unusually broad and deeply cut, a feature often associated with better-quality Victorian corkscrews as it allowed a firmer purchase on the cork and reduced the likelihood of tearing during extraction.
