This Victorian centre table is made from solid mahogany with a warm brown colour and a wax finish. The rectangular top features rounded corners and a smooth, polished surface with visible grain patterns that change when viewed from different angles. Four sturdy turned legs support the base, complete with carved reeded details, collars, and original solid brass bucket castors at the feet. The construction includes a simple apron beneath the top surface. The piece measures 74 cm high, 93 cm wide, and 62 cm deep. In a home today, this versatile wooden table works well in a study as an office table, in a living room as a centre table or side table, or in a dining room as a small dining table or worktable. It provides a classic English Country House aesthetic and fits easily into various living spaces for everyday use, display, or workspace needs.

A Victorian mahogany centre table is a versatile piece of 19th-century furniture designed to stand centrally within a room or hall. Popularised during the Victorian era, these tables feature rich mahogany timber, elaborate turned or carved legs, and often incorporate brass castors for easy mobility.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over pine or oak frames. Construction details typically included hand-turned legs, traditional joinery, and brass socket castors.

Authentic pieces feature signs of historic age, such as natural timber shrinkage, hand-finished joints, original brass hardware, and a natural patina acquired over time. Examining the underside reveals hand-sawn wood marks and historic wear around the joinery.

A centre table functions well as an entryway feature beneath a hanging lamp or as an accent writing table in a living area. The warm reddish wood tones can be balanced with neutral textiles, modern ceramics, or contemporary lighting.

Dust regularly using a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood surface. Avoid placing the table in direct sunlight or adjacent to radiator heat sources to prevent cracking and wood movement.
