Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This advertising sign dates from the 1930s in a mid-century commercial style, constructed from a pine and wood timber frame enclosing a painted panel. The sign displays a vibrant yellow background featuring bold red block typography spelling out Mobo TOYS alongside blue hand-painted lettering reading keep them happy, all housed within an original wooden case. Visible details include the natural weathered grain of the wooden framing and the clear painted panel with no damage or loss to the glass. Practical display options allow the piece to be wall-hung or used freestanding, measuring 40 cm wide, 30 cm high, and 20 cm deep. Placed in a modern home, this sign suits an industrial loft interior, functioning effectively as a decorative accent positioned on top of a sideboard in a living room, hallway, or study.

FAQs

Mid-20th-century toy shop signs were created by manufacturers to promote specific brands directly within retail spaces. They often featured bold typography and vivid primary colours designed to attract high street shoppers.

These signs were commonly constructed using painted tin, enamel panels, or glass mounted within solid pine timber frames, often structured into box frames for display counter top or window mounting.

Authentic signs show natural signs of age, such as wood grain exposure, gentle paint patination, period-appropriate typography, and original construction joinery on the timber casing.

A vintage advertising sign works as a graphic focal point when positioned on a sideboard top, integrated into an eclectic gallery wall, or styled in a home office or playroom.

Maintain the surface by dusting gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Keep the item in a stable indoor environment away from direct sunlight and moisture to prevent paint degradation or timber movement.
