The single plank top displays prominent grain movement, rounded ends, and gentle surface wear that reveals its age, supported by sturdy turned legs and a low wooden stretcher base with block feet. Measuring 78 cm high, 353 cm wide, and 116 cm deep, this long piece provides generous seating capacity for daily family meals or large dinner parties. Position this table as a striking centrepiece in a spacious dining room, open-plan kitchen, or large living space to anchor both traditional and contemporary interior schemes. The expansive surface serves as an ideal gathering area for dining, entertaining, or hosting seasonal feasts, bringing rustic charm and historical character into the home.

FAQs

A single plank table features a tabletop constructed from one continuous slab of timber rather than multiple joined boards, historically reflecting the use of mature, large-girth trees in traditional woodworking.

These tables are constructed using dense European oak, frequently assembled using mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs rather than metal fixings.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-planed or hand-hewn tool markings, natural timber shrinkage near joints, and a rich surface patina built up over generations of use and waxing.

Pairing a heavy oak table with contemporary dining chairs or modern sculptural lighting creates an intentional design contrast between historical grain textures and clean contemporary lines.

Maintain the surface by applying a natural beeswax polish regularly, wiping liquid spills immediately, and placing the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
