This Sheraton Revival coffee table is a mahogany piece from 1920, designed in the English Country House style. The oval top features a dark brown timber surface decorated with contrasting satinwood and rosewood crossbanding, alongside ebony and boxwood line inlays. A central turned pedestal supports the top, leading down to four splayed reeded legs with carved details that end in brass lion paw castors. Measuring 48 cm high, 118 cm wide, and 69 cm deep, it provides a practical surface for a living room or traditional sitting area. Placed centrally before a sofa, it functions well as a coffee table for holding drinks, books, or decorative objects while complementing classic interior schemes.

Sheraton Revival furniture, produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, emulates the late 18th-century designs of Thomas Sheraton. Key characteristics include refined neoclassical proportions, slender reeded or tapered legs, delicate marquetry, and crossbanded wood inlays.

These tables are typically constructed using high-grade mahogany or satinwood as the secondary or primary wood. Decorative details often incorporate contrasting timber veneers for crossbanding, alongside cast brass hardware such as claw feet and castors.

Authentic pieces exhibit precise cabinetmaking techniques, high-quality timber selection, natural hand-cut veneers, and period-appropriate brass fittings. Construction methods, such as original joinery underneath the top and aged oxidation on wood surfaces, help confirm era of origin.

Position the table centrally in a living space to anchor modern upholstered seating. Contrast the polished dark mahogany wood with contemporary linen fabrics, structural ceramics, and stacked art books to balance traditional craft with contemporary elements.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking and veneer lifting. Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply beeswax periodically in thin coats to preserve the patinated finish.
