Regency furniture, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1820, drew heavily from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, featuring clean classical proportions, dark tropical hardwoods like mahogany, and sophisticated brass or carved detailing.

These tables were typically constructed from solid mahogany or feature dense mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods, utilizing pegged joints, brass hinges for the fold-over top, and hand-carved pedestal bases.

Authenticity is identified through period-correct timber grain, hand-cut dovetail joints, patination consistent with age, and traditional joinery methods rather than modern mechanical fasteners.

An antique card table functions well as a versatile console against a hallway wall or as an occasional surface in a living room, contrasting cleanly with modern minimalist decor.

Preserve antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, avoiding silicone-based polishes, and treating the surface periodically with traditional beeswax.
