This Edwardian dinner service comprises forty-five earthenware pieces manufactured by Booths in Tunstall, North Staffordshire, featuring the "Battersea" pattern produced for Harrods. The items display a white glaze decorated with a polychrome enamel floral bouquet motif in blues, terracotta, greens, mauve, and lemon, finished with hand gilding along the scalloped, rippled rims and loop handles on the tureens. Visible signs of age and use include worn rim gilding, staining on the platters, crazing on one open tureen base, and various repairs to lid knobs and handles. The set includes plates, shallow bowls, lidded sauce dishes, tureens, and large platters measuring up to 38 cm by 30 cm. Suitable for use in a traditional home, this service is placed upon a sideboard top to provide a decorative display or set out for formal dining occasions. The comprehensive arrangement includes graduated serving dishes and multiple plates, offering a complete tablescape solution for entertaining guests in an English country house setting.

Booths was an established Staffordshire pottery manufacturer operating from the late 19th century, renowned for producing earthenware and Silicon China. The Battersea pattern features colourful floral bouquets framed by dark borders, reflecting early 20th-century British ceramic design.

These pieces were produced from glazed earthenware, frequently marketed under the trade name Silicon China, which combined the strength of porcelain with underglaze transfer printing and hand-applied enamelling.

Authentic items display the printed Booths maker mark on the underside, often alongside the pattern name Battersea, pattern numbers, and occasionally impressed date codes or registration marks.

Platters and plates can be displayed upright on plate stands inside a glazed cabinet or along a sideboard top, while the complete set can be arranged to create a layered vintage tablescape.

Washing by hand with mild liquid detergent and warm water is recommended. Dishwashers and abrasive pads should be avoided to prevent surface wear to the overglaze enamels and gilded rims.
