Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian oak side table, produced around 1850 in an English country house style, displays a medium brown timber with visible natural grain. The square top features well-rounded corners and conceals a single drawer with oak lining underneath the apron. Below the top, a straight central pedestal column extends downward to meet a sturdy quadform base supported by curved bracket feet. The visible structure demonstrates solid construction with clean geometric lines throughout the base and column. The piece stands 76 cm high, 53.5 cm wide, and 48.5 cm deep. In a modern interior, this functional occasional table suits placement at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair to hold lamps, drinks, or small decorative items. The compact footprint makes it practical for use in a living room, study, or hallway without occupying excessive floor space. The warm wood tones and traditional silhouette complement both classic and transitional room schemes, integrating easily with existing antique or contemporary furnishings.

FAQs

Side tables from this era often feature a solid central column anchored to a three or four-footed base, supporting a compact square or circular top designed for versatile room placement.

Solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, and walnut were primarily used, constructed using traditional mortise and tenon joinery alongside hand-turned pedestal shafts.

Authentic pieces display natural grain variation, historical wear patterns on the base, hand-cut joinery marks beneath the tabletop, and period-correct construction technique.

These compact tables serve effectively alongside a modern sofa or armchair to support task lighting, framed artwork, or decorative ceramics.

Regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and occasional application of a natural beeswax polish maintains the wood moisture and preserves the natural patina.
