FAQs

A ruyi is a traditional Chinese ceremonial sceptre that serves as a talisman symbolizing power and good fortune, often translated to mean as you wish or according to your desires.

Authentic ruyi sceptres were crafted from a variety of materials including jade, precious metals, porcelain, lacquer, and dense hardwoods such as boxwood and zitan.

Authentication involves examining the depth and precision of the carving, the natural patina and oxidisation of the wood, and tool marks consistent with period woodworking techniques.

Displaying the sceptre on a dedicated stand or flat surface allows its sculptural form to act as a focal point, pairing well with minimalist surfaces to highlight its intricate details.

Preservation requires keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, using only a soft, dry microfibre cloth to gently remove dust.
