We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Treen refers to small functional or decorative wooden household objects made before the widespread use of plastics, particularly popular during the Georgian and Victorian eras.

These items were typically turned on a lathe using dense native timbers such as boxwood, sycamore, or fruitwood, often featuring hand-painted or penwork ornamentation.

Authenticity is determined by tool marks left from hand-turning, patination appropriate to age, traditional joint construction, and period-accurate pigments or varnishes.

Small objects like pin boxes add warmth and texture when grouped on a bookshelf, displayed on a side table, or curated inside a glass display cabinet.

Keep wooden items out of direct sunlight and away from central heating to prevent cracking, occasionally feeding the wood with microcrystalline wax to maintain the finish.
