Cow creamers originated in Holland and were imported into Britain during the early 18th century before being widely produced by English potteries such as Staffordshire.

They were typically crafted from earthenware, salt-glazed stoneware, or early porcelain, and finished with hand-painted lead glazes or enamel colours.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-correct glaze pooling, crazing, hand-modelled features, and wear consistent with age, often lacking modern makers marks.

Displaying it on open shelving, a dresser, or a mantelpiece adds a touch of historic charm and conversational whimsy to contemporary rustic or eclectic interiors.

Keep antique ceramics out of direct sunlight, dust them gently with a soft dry cloth, and avoid submerging them in water or using harsh chemical cleaners.
