FAQs

Treen refers to small, functional wooden objects made by hand before the era of mass production, often turned on a lathe and treasured for their utilitarian history.

These kitchen items were typically turned from dense, closed-grain hardwoods such as boxwood, sycamore, beech, or maple to resist moisture and citrus acids.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit characteristic tool marks from manual lathe turning, authentic age-related patina, dry surfaces, and minor wear consistent with historical domestic use.

These pieces can be displayed on open kitchen shelving, within glass-fronted cabinets, or grouped on a wooden surface to add warmth and tactile historical character to contemporary spaces.

Treen should be cleaned strictly with a dry or barely damp cloth, avoiding prolonged exposure to water, and occasionally treated with food-safe mineral oil or beeswax to prevent the wood from splitting.
