Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A Regency style tea table is a piece of furniture produced during the British Regency era, typically characterised by classical proportions, dark woods such as mahogany, and refined ornamental details inspired by Greco-Roman design.

These tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and pine secondary woods, frequently embellished with figured mahogany veneers, brass paw castors, and sometimes rosewood or satinwood inlay.

Authentication involves examining traditional joinery methods, such as hand-cut dovetails and pegged joints, checking for period-appropriate timber shrinkage, and inspecting the brass hardware and secondary woods for signs of age and handcraftsmanship.

An antique mahogany table can be incorporated into contemporary schemes by pairing it with minimalist seating, modern lighting, or neutral walls to create a striking contrast between old and new textures.

Preservation requires keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, maintaining stable room humidity, and periodically applying traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
