Dresden style porcelain refers to decorative figures and ceramics produced in factories around Dresden and Thuringia in Germany, gaining prominence during the 19th and early 20th centuries, often characterised by intricate lace details and hand-painted polychrome finishes.

These pieces are crafted from hard-paste porcelain, meticulously moulded or hand-modelled, and decorated with overglaze enamels and extensive gilt highlights applied by skilled artisans.

Authentic pieces typically feature underglaze blue or impressed factory marks on the base, hand-painted details with fine brushwork, and naturalistic ageing in the gilt and porcelain body rather than modern transfers.

Placed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side cabinet, these detailed figures add a focal point of classical texture and historical interest when contrasted against minimalist modern furnishings.

Clean gently with a soft, dry feather duster or a very slightly damp microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or immersion in water to protect the delicate hand-painted glazes and gilding.
