Ming dynasty blue and white porcelain refers to ceramics produced in China during the Ming dynasty, characterised by cobalt blue underglaze designs on a white clay body, highly prized for its craftsmanship and historical significance.

These pieces were crafted using high-fired kaolin clay, glazed with transparent porcelain stone, and hand-painted using cobalt oxide pigments imported from the Middle East or sourced domestically before firing in high-temperature kilns.

Authentic pieces are identified through careful examination of the glaze texture, iron spots, firing flaws, cobalt hue, footring characteristics, and comparison of reign marks against known historical exemplars.

An antique porcelain bowl can be displayed as a standalone objet dart on a minimalist wooden console table or housed within a glass-fronted cabinet to highlight its historical form and colour.

Antique ceramics should be kept out of direct sunlight, handled with clean, dry hands, dusted gently with a soft microfibre cloth, and never subjected to harsh chemical cleaners or immersion in water if fragile.
